Oconee County Foreclosure Auctions

Oconee County holds its foreclosure auction at the courthouse at 23 North Main Street in Watkinsville, on the first Tuesday of every month. Watkinsville is both the county seat and the largest town, and Oconee sits directly south of Athens. The county was created out of the southwestern part of Clarke County in 1875. Buying near Athens for the first time? The Georgia process guide is worth a read.

Athens spillover with a different buyer pool

Oconee borders Clarke and functions as its residential counterpart, which generally produces a different buyer than the student rental market next door. Review the checklist for funds and pre-sale confirmations.

The courthouse sits at the junction of Highways 441 and 15, and foreclosure notices publish in the Oconee Enterprise. Clarke, Walton, Barrow and Morgan all border Oconee and each runs its own sale on the same first Tuesday. An Athens-area address is not evidence of a Clarke parcel or an Oconee one. Check the county before you plan around a sale date.
