Georgia has a Madison County whose seat is Danielsville, and a city called Madison that is the seat of Morgan County, about fifty miles southwest. Neither pairing is the one people assume, and a records search run against the wrong county comes back empty rather than wrong, which is harder to notice.
Worth knowing on the ground too: the county's own directions tell visitors to pass the Historic Courthouse and then turn onto Albany Avenue. The working court is not the historic building.
