Stephens County holds its foreclosure auction at the courthouse at 70 North Alexander Street in Toccoa, on the first Tuesday of every month. Check the number carefully, because Stephens runs two courthouses across the street from each other. Toccoa is the county seat and Stephens sits in northeast Georgia on the South Carolina line. Two courthouses, one street
The county's first courthouse was completed in 1908 and remains in use. A second courthouse opened in May 2000 directly across North Alexander Street to the west. Consult the checklist before the sale for payment and timing.
Stephens was formed in 1905 out of parts of Habersham and Franklin counties as Georgia's 143rd county, and Toccoa was named the seat in the founding legislation.
